Top 5 Farmers' Markets

These Spring and Summer months come and go too quickly. Indulging in the best of what Edmonton and the surrounding area has to offer couldn't sound more sweet. Whether you are planning something easy and fun to do with the family, or wanting the best ingredients to make those perfect meals, or just want to shop and support local, hitting up your favourite Farmers Market will do the trick. 
We have created a list of our favourite Farmers' Markets (in no particular order) that will be sure to impress. We hope you can get out and about and enjoy yourself this Summer. 
1. St. Albert Farmers' Market- Is the largest outdoor market in Western Canada and is open Staurdays from June to October! It has 270 Vendors and a variety of top quality products. Everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to home decor. Everything is either hand-made, hand-baked, or home grown so you can feel good about supporting your local community. They even have gifts and garments for your furry friends. 
2. Edmonton Downtown Farmers' Market - Right in the heart of the city and opened Saturdays & Sundays! If you're unable to make it but still want to enjoy some local eats you can even order online and do a curbside pick up! This market has been around for more than a century and is open year round. You will find Farm-Fresh produce, locally raised meats, ready to eat meals, bread, fruit and  even sweet treats. If you are looking for some local art or even some handcrafted jewelry you will find it here! 
3. Beverly Farmers' MarketRuns Tuesday afternoons starting May 18th! One of the friendliest markets in Edmonton. Over 20 years ago the community of Beverly decided that an official local market would be a positive and engaging addition to the friendly small town culture. So with the help of the Beverly Business Association they opened in May 1997. Not only do they have the freshest produce they even have family entertainment from Bouncy Castles, food trucks and live music! You can even enter to win the weekly prize! Bring the kids and tell your friends!
4. Old Strathcona Farmers' Market- Another year round market that you can enjoy every Saturday from 8AM - 3PM. Also introducing curbside pick-up this year so you can still support local from the comfort of your home. This is Edmonton's original indoor market located just off the historic Whyte Ave established in 1983. They are committed to providing small, independent, local businesses a venue to showcase their locally produced products. They have everything you are looking for!
5. 124 Grand Market - Now in 2 locations, 2 days per week! Established in 2012, they are Edmonton's public market that strives to serve the community with quality, locally farmed and focused products. Supporting the growth of burgeoning businesses and entrepreneurs is their mission. They even have a Little Beans Program which is a free service to allow kids from 4-12 to discover fresh, local foods and connect with our local farmers! 
This is something safe and healthy to do with the family all while supporting our local businesses and entrepreneurs. This is only a list of 5 and this city has some many more to explore so make sure you do!
