Westmount Neighbourhood

In 1878 Malcolm Groat built his first home on what is now known as Westmount. Groat was a Hudson Bay Employee and an early Edmonton settler. He sold his land when the demand for residential lots increased. Due to its proximity to Downtown, it became pretty attractive to many. The luxury homes started closer to the Ravine with larger lots, and more apartment-style homes were developed near 124 Street. You will also find many infill spaces to build your new dream home in a mature neighbourhood. With the revamp of this artsy street, many are looking to call this area home. It is known to be one of Edmonton’s most lively shopping spots like Arturo Denim Co., Ascendant Books and AYA Kitchens. Getting hungry? There has to be a treat you will enjoy, like Bodega 124 Street and finish off your shopping with something sweet from the famous Duchess Bakery. It doesn’t stop there; find a piece of local art at one of the beautiful galleries like Lotus Gallery or Larry Louie Photography. They have tons of beauty services and seasonal markets that bring everyone together. Then on the other side of this energetic community, you can get lost in the beauty of the Ravine. With everything right at your fingertips, the possibilities are endless.
